Exeter Street Theatre opens.

May 4, 1914

Originally Ayer’s Exeter Street Theatre and located at 26 Exeter Street, the second-floor theater seats 1,036. Owned by a religious society, it is, for many years, said to be the only movie theater that proper Bostonian women patronize. The theater closes and the building is converted to other uses by CBT Associates in 1984.
